Birite Creamery–$–Mission: My favorite ice cream place in the whole wide world! It’s a long line, but worth it. I particularly love the salted caramel and creme brulee flavors.
Chapeau!–$$$–Inner Richmond: This French restaurant does the classics well, at a fair price. They have a great fixed price menu.
The Mill–$$–Divisadero: They might not have started the toast craze, but they certainly perfected it. Get fancy toast and great coffee in one spot.
Philz–$–Various: They specialize in a cup-at-a-time coffee model, so your cup is brewed exactly how you like it. Their mint mojito iced coffee is crazy addictive.
Sightglass Coffee–$–Various: I dream of their vanilla cold brew iced coffee.
Souvla–$$–Hayes Valley: Souvla offers four protein options (pork, chicken, lamb, and vegetarian) in either a salad or gyro. The chicken salad is incredibly addicting, and you shouldn’t skip the frozen greek yogurt.
La Taqueria–$–Mission: Cheap and insanely delicious Mexican food.
Limon–$$–Mission: This restaurant specializes in Peruvian food, including a wonderful roast chicken. Their macaroni and cheese is also great. I love coming here with big groups!
Tartine Bakery–$$–Mission: Yes, the line will be long, but your reward will be the best bread you have ever had. Do not forget to order a morning bun and a banana cream tart.
Universal Cafe–$$–Mission: Every meal here has been perfect. Go for brunch and order the french toast and slow scrambled eggs. AMAZING.
Yank Sing–$$$–Financial District: In need of some great Chinese food? Look no further than this dim sum mecca that will have everything your heart desires.
Zeitgeist–$–Mission: My favorite beer bar in the city. It’s a self-described biker beer bar, with a great tap selection.
The Tonga Room–$$$–Nob Hill: A tiki bar in a fancy Nob Hill hotel. Tacky? Yes. But you’re up for a hell of a good time with tropical drinks, a cover band, and fake rain storms. Don’t buy any food (it’s not worth it), and prepare for a cover fee after 8pm.
