Chocolate Cupcakes

Chocolate Cupcakes

A few weeks ago I got a serious craving for chocolate cake. I saw a photo in my Instagram feed and then immediately thought I need chocolate cake at this very moment and nothing else will do.  For those moments, I reach for cupcakes over cake. When a craving hits, cupcakes require less bake time and…

Easy Funfetti Cupcakes

Easy Funfetti Cupcakes

Important Question of the Day: Team Cake or Team Cupcake? To be honest, my allegiance switches back and forth between the two. When I’m out at a restaurant or bakery, I almost always opt for cake. The frosting to cake ratio is slightly higher, which I love. But forget about making a cake at home….

Classic Devil’s Food Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

Today’s my birthday which is making this Monday pretty wonderful! Though I am sad I can no longer claim “22” as my song (okay, mine and about 30,000 other people’s “song”), I am excited for new adventures over the upcoming year. This year’s goal: working my happiness like it’s a full time job. Of course,…

French Yogurt Cake

French Yogurt Cake

I’ve always had an obsession with tea parties. I love the frilly lace tablecloths, the delicate vintage teacups, and the dainty sugar cubes that I add to my Assam tea. Lately, I’ve been dreaming of hosting a tea party for friends to celebrate spring. Unfortunately, my house is not that accommodating for tea parties–we don’t…

The Best Banana Bread

The Best Banana Bread

Due to the abundance of snow days DC had this winter, I got pretty good at making banana bread. The snow has me longing for warm, tropical island vacations to places like Hawaii. Though I probably will not be going to Hawaii any time soon, this banana bread, with its slightly crispy exterior, will have…

Olive Oil Cake

Olive Oil Cake

As soon as I saw this cake recipe, I felt an instinctive “yes.” This is a recipe that draws you in, like a fresh cup of tea on a dreary afternoon. I know olive oil sounds unattractive in a cake, but it ensures the cake is super moist, yet has a superb crispy crust. Instead…

Tea Time and Chocolate Chip Scones

Tea Time and Chocolate Chip Scones

At the age of six, I fell in love with tea parties.  For my sixth birthday party, my family surprised me with a “tea” party.  There were crust-less sandwiches, flouncy dresses, and tea cups filled with…lemonade.  Two years later, I was celebrating my birthday again, but this time with real tea, and my father dressed…

  • Happy Valentine’s Day to the man I love more than sesame noodles ❤️
  • Classic for a reason. Marion Cunningham’s yeasted waffles, original recipe published in 1987. ❤️
  • It’s going to be -50 with windchill here in Chicago on Wednesday and I would say we are totally adjusting to the temperature, oh and I happened to look at photos of us in warm weather for the last 30 minutes.

Hilary Galant

After growing up in San Diego and a short stint in DC, I now call San Francisco home. At a young age, I became my father's sous chef for dinners at home. As I got older, my love affair with food got stronger. I unabashedly adore butter, kale salads with avocado, and flaky sea salt. I started this blog in 2013 to share my affection for easy foolproof recipes and entertaining. During the day, I help people grow their businesses, but at night I strive to help people grow their cooking repertoire.
